The Post Graduate Department at Madras was inaugurated by Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri in Oct. 1964 and teaching of M.A. classes commenced.
The Sabha conducts M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D., D.Lit., courses and awards degrees to the successful candidates. The Sabha also conducts B.Ed., Shiksha Snathak, Pracharak courses to train Teachers through Hindi medium. P.G. Diploma in Translation and Journalism Courses are also offered by the Sabha.
There are four Post Graduate Centers run by the Sabha at Chennai, Hyderabad, Dharwad and Ernakulam. So far, more than 1000 candidates have received M.A. degrees and more than 400 candidates have received M.Phil. degrees, more than 100 candidates have received Ph.D and 3 candidates have received D.Lit |

To fulfill the aspirations of Hindi lovers residing far and wide, who are desirous of acquiring qualifications, courses like M.A. and P.G. Diploma in Translation are offered by Distance Education mode.

| NATIONAL HINDI RESEARCH LIBRARY: |
| This Library functions under the control of P.G. Dept. of the Hindi Prachar Sabha. This is the biggest Hindi Library in South India. More than 1 lakh books and more than 150 News Papers and Periodicals in Hindi are available. |
